EcoTimber Classic
EcoTimber® engineered flooring has all the benefits of laminated flooring—including superior stability and easy installation—and the look of solid wood. In engineered flooring, a surface layer of high-quality hardwood is bonded to two wood sub-layers. Cross-ply construction makes the product more stable than solid wood. Our wear layers are among the thickest on the market: 3.6mm (just over .14″), allowing many more sandings than the typical engineered floor’s 1/10-inch “veneer” layer.

EcoTimber engineered flooring can be nailed down like solid flooring, glued directly to concrete, or “floated” (gluing the planks to each other and not to the subfloor). Because they are prefinished, these products do not have to be sanded and finished on the jobsite, and are easy and inexpensive to install.

Our engineered floors feature a state-of-the-art UV-cured aluminum oxide finish that is among the most durable available, making our product ideal for demanding commercial as well as residential applications.

	Cherry Prefinished Engineered Single-Strip Cherry has a warm red-brown color which darkens with exposure to light. Less hard and dense than most hardwoods used for flooring, but its color and luster more than make up for it. more info
	Hard Maple Prefinished Engineered Single-Strip Also known as Hard or Rock Maple, this North American classic has a lustrous white color, very fine texture, and beautiful curving grain patterns. Also available in an unfinished solid format. more info

EcoTimber Rustic
EcoTimber® reclaimed wood flooring is remilled from tight-grained, old-growth lumber from deconstructed buildings (ranging from former military bases to Kentucky tobacco barns) or salvaged from waterways or urban areas.

Nail holes, streaking, and other character marks are part of the rustic appeal of this unique resource.

Forest Salvage flooring is cut from standing dead or wind-fallen trees.

	Antique Northern Yellow Pine Unfinished Solid \| Reclaimed Harder than most Pine species, this traditional favorite is milled from old-growth lumber that is reclaimed from old buildings and given new life. It features knots, nail holes, and occasional insect scarring, and includes both light-colored sapwood and orange-brown heart wood. more info
	Antique Oak Unfinished Solid \| Reclaimed This mix of Red & White Oak is reclaimed from old buildings and remilled into wide-plank flooring. Sold in mixed widths to replicate the look of traditional colonial flooring, this product offers the superior strength and stability of old-growth wood without the environmental cost. Antique Oak’s rustic features include knots, insect scarring, occasional nail holes, and areas of weathered patina. more info
	Country Oak Unfinished Solid \| Forest Salvage Milled from standing dead and wind-fallen Red Oaks, this flooring offers the rustic look of reclaimed wood at a fraction of the cost. Country Oak features frequent knots and insect scarring, and is sold in mixed wide widths and long lengths. more info

EcoTimber® exotic hardwoods are exceptionally beautiful and are off the charts in terms of hardness and durability. Because they are FSC-certified, using them is key to supporting sustainable forestry initiatives in the tropics where forests are rapidly being cleared for farming.

	Brazilian Cherry / Jatoba Unfinished Solid Known in South America as Jatoba, Brazilian Cherry’s popularity as a flooring material is well-deserved. Open-grained like Oak, but more than twice as hard, this wood features dark brown or black streaks contrasting with a background that ranges from dark orange to reddish brown. Brazilian Cherry darkens to the color seen here within several months of installation. more info
	Brazilian Cherry / Jatoba Prefinished Engineered The prefinished engineered version can be nailed to plywood or glued to concrete subfloors. more info
	Patagonian Teak Prefinished Engineered Though not related to Teak, this Bolivian native offers similar coloration, and is substantially harder. Ranging from light creamy brown to medium brown with subtle reddish undertones, Patagonian Teak has a beautiful tight grain structure. more info
	Tiete Rosewood Prefinished Engineered Sometimes known as Patagonian Cherry, Tiete (tee ETT) Rosewood features minimal color variation and fairly uniform grain texture. A light salmon color when first cut, the wood’s tone deepens to a vibrant red over time. Tiete Rosewood’s unique beauty will brighten any space, and its hardness will last a lifetime. more info
	White Tigerwood Prefinished Engineered This South American native ranges in color from honey yellow to light golden brown. White Tigerwood has a light, closed grain similar to Beech, but with an iridescence that truly shines. An excellent alternative for those looking for a light-colored floor but prefer something harder and more exotic than Maple or Beech. more info

Obama Calls Insulation ‘Sexy,’ Pushes Energy Efficient Renovations

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Insisting insulation is “sexy,” President Barack Obama called Tuesday for new federal incentives to make millions of homes more energy-efficient as a way to create jobs, save money for home owners and reduce pollution.

Speaking at a suburban Washington Home Depot store cleared of shoppers, Obama said he wants Congress to provide temporary incentives for consumers to rush out and buy such items as insulation, new windows and doors, and caulk to plug leaks where they live.

Obama said homes and offices are responsible for 40 percent of U.S. energy consumption and that homes built in the first half of the 20th century can use about 50 percent more energy than modern dwellings.

It was the fourth time in less than two weeks that Obama has staged a high-profile event to call attention to his efforts to curb unemployment, which dropped slightly to 10 percent in November.

Obama said he disagreed with those who think energy-efficiency isn’t glamorous.

“Here’s what’s sexy about it: saving money,” he said. The Associated Press
